Although many people choose to stay in Chorio because of its traditional charms, there are a number of small resorts and beaches dotted around the coast of the island to suit every taste. On the coast close to Chorio lie the islands most popular resorts of Magazia, Molos and Gyrismata. These boast a selection of hotels, pensions, rooms and villas, lively bars, traditional kafenea and restaurants with properties fringing the long sandy beaches. Lying close to Chorio is the beach Papatohouma, more commonly known in English as The Nudist Beach. Please be aware that access paths to this beach can be difficult.
Northwards from this area on the road to Trachi and the airport you can take the rough track to the beautiful beach of Kareflou. Although often deserted this sandy beach can often be exposed to the wind and the elements and swimming is not advised because of strong currents. Please note there are no facilities at this beach so please take everything with you. A four wheel vehicle is recommended to access the beach.
Beyond Trachi and the airport are the small beaches of Ayios Petros and Agalipa. Ayios Petros can be reached by road whilst Agalipa is accessed by footpath or by boat. There is a popular Taverna situated on the road just before these beaches.
Returning to the paved road, and continuing southwards there are Tavernas with small beaches at Kyria Panagia, Atsitsa and Ayios Fokas.
Beyond Ayios Fokas and after a scenic drive through the forest is the beautiful bay of Petros. A deep bay with sandy beaches and Tavernas, in August this can become very busy. A quieter alternative is perhaps to join the road from Pefkos to Linaria and stop off at Acherounes to enjoy the beach there, the Tavernas or the pleasant beach bar at the Pegasus Plantation. Besides the appartments and studios available at the Pegasus Plantation there are other small accommodations to rent.
Heading back towards Chorio from Acherounes the small hamlet of Aspous offers choices of accommodation and a selection of Tavernas as well as a small and pleasant sandy beach.
Another suggestion is to take the turning in Aspous to Kalamitsa where there is a long swathe of pebble beach and a couple of very good Tavernas. Kalimitsa is a popular holiday destination with a selection of sea–facing appartments and villas.
Further south beyond the springs at Nyfi is the beautiful pebble beach of Kolimbada. Kolimbada cannot be reached by car and is a 10 minute walk downhill from the road. Please note there are no facilities at this beach so please take everything with you.
Beyond Kolimbada there are the beaches at Rennes and also Glyfada on Sarakiniko Island. These beaches can only be reached by boat and have no facilities.
